}      Looking me in the eye:

   look 后面不总是要跟at, 也可以不跟at。它后面跟词的时候，主要是像这样的用法：looking me in the eye ，就是中文常说的“看着我的眼睛”。
You look me in the eye and tell me, without blinking, that you‘re not breaking up with her. No blinking.
你看着我的眼睛，告诉我你没有说谎。look 后面不但可以跟词，还可以跟从句，如下：

}      Look at them, look how happy they are.

   看看他们，看看把他们高兴得。

}       The Officer went through the case with great care. All the things I had packed so carefully were soon in a dreadful mess. I felt sure I would never be able to close the case again. Suddenly, I saw the Officer’s face light up. He had spotted a tiny bottle at the bottom of my case and he pounced on it with delight.

}       Mess:
Excuse all this mess.

   这句话可以在别人去你家作客的时候说，就是指特别乱，请你原谅。
Excuse my appearance.
衣冠整洁是一种礼貌，有时候你没穿整齐而有人来了，这时候你就可以说这句话。

 ‘But it isn’t perfume,’ I said. ‘It’s hair gel.’ Then I added with a smile, ‘It’s a strange mixture I make myself.’
    As I expected, he did not believe me.
  ‘Try it!’ I said encouragingly.

}      Sarcastic:

经常开玩笑，无论你说什么他都老不正经，很难serious.

}      Try it:
I’ll have a try at it.
I’ll try.
I’ll take a shot at it.
I’ll give it a shot.

  这几句话都是同一个意思，表示我会试一下。

}        The officer unscrewed the cap and put the bottle to his nostrils. He was greeted by an unpleasant smell which convinced him that I was telling the truth. A few minutes later, I was able to hurry away with precious chalk marks on my baggage.

}      Convince:

   说服
That‘s not the way to convince you.
 那样是说服不了你的。
That would be a lot more convincing.

    那样的话就更加有说服力了。
