kyra 很多人似乎认为，在外国就意味着你会自然地学习该国语言。也许最突出的就是那些相信这个“常识性的真理”的父母们，他们支付大把金钱把子女送到外国的语言学校念书，期望他们回来时能讲一口流利的英语。
事实是：
大多数移民美国的人英语说得并不是很好，即使在那里生活了20年。他们中的许多人那么多年都一直在犯同样的基本错误-例如，他们说“He make tea? ”而不是“Did he make tea?”或“I help you ”而不是“I will help you ”，而且他们说话通常带着很浓的口音，使他人立即分辨出把他们是亚洲人，或拉美，俄罗斯等。
这些移民者讲不好英语的这个真相让我们感到震惊：原来生活在国外根本没法使你把该国语言说好。它不会强迫你学习正确的语法，良好的发音，或大量词汇，因为在日常生活中，这些东西并不会给你造成什么问题。在说英语时，你可以跳过它们，如，你可以说“Give me apple”,”Watch is not good”, 即使说出来的句子语法错误，但你仍然可以在美国或英国逛街买东西。
在国外生活只能强迫你了解，在那生存什么是必要的——听懂日常用语；知道怎么订购pizza并与你的同事或同学沟通这样的能力。接下来就看你的了，你学习的动机和能力，这意味着你并没有比那些在自己的国家学习外语的人好到哪去。
此外，在国外你往往会说不正确的句子，因为环境强迫你说话，即使你的话语错误多多。你并不能暂时不和他人交谈，而着重笔头练习（你得花很多时间在网上或字典查看正确的词组，这会使你的语法比口语好。），因为你必须讲，你的生活有赖于此。
在这种老犯同种错误的恶性循下，几年过去了，一开口还是”He make tea” , 已经养成坏习惯了，想改都改不掉。有一点大家要清楚，国外的本土人士不会给你纠正错误，而是友好的试着去理解你，不管你的语法有多糟糕。
